outfit post : mint and floral high-low

I knew that I just had to take Clara to Fort Langley while she was visiting, and man did we have fun.  Fort Langley is chock full of cute local shops, tons of antique stores, and delicious little restaurants!  We had fun shopping, eating, and of course....taking a few photos.

This is outfit is my latest fave, and I'm trying not to wear it every time I leave the house.  It's basically all of my faves summed up: mint, lace, floral, and a skirt.  So much love.  Embarrassingly enough, all of these pieces came from the same store (the garage), but I don't even care.

top, vest, skirt: the garage // shoes: shine // belt: h&m // whistle necklace: foreverxxi

This little mint top is actually a crop top, but I tucked it into my skirt since I'm not brave enough to be baring any tummy. haha.  I'm so in love with it that I'll probably be heading back for another one (or two or three?) in different colours!  I love the versatility it brings to an outfit, and can't wait to pair it with more things from my closet!

Oh gosh, this suitcase!  We found it in an antique shop, and both fell in love.  I carried it around for a good while as we browsed, but a different vintage suitcase caught my eye....and I just couldn't justify buying both, so I had to leave it behind.  So sad!

And thanks goes to Clara for the photos!  Being able to take photos of each other is just another reason that we need to live closer to each other SOON!!!

thirsty tuesday: blueberry coconut mojitos

This week, I'm announcing a "thirsty" tuesday. With all this glorious summer heat and sun, I've been craving summery ice cold drinks - so here's one of my favourite ones. Fresh blueberries, mint leaves, coconut rum, and "ice, ice baby"! (excuse the craziness, it's the heat, I swear!).

This drink tastes even better than it looks. So go grab some fresh berries and mix away to chase away the summer heat!

[  i  n  g  r  e  d  i  e  n  t  s  ]

1 + 1/2 cups of fresh blueberries
1 + 1/4 cup of water  (can add soda water instead too!)
sweetener to taste  (honey is lovely, but syrup and sugar are okay too)
4 oz coconut rum  (malibu's is sooo tasty!)
a handful of fresh mint leaves  (around 10-14 leaves)
1 tray of ice cubes  ("ice, ice baby...")

[  i  n  s  t  r  u  c  t  i  o  n  s  ]

1. Blend the first 3 ingredients together to make blueberry juice.
2. Add in your fresh mint leaves and let the juice sit for around 10-15mins. so that it soaks up the minty flavour!
3. Mix in your blueberry juice, tray of ice, and coconut rum and shake it up!
4. Pour your delicious mojito into your cups, throw in some fresh blueberries, and garnish with more mint leaves to make it pretty :)

Make your way over to your porch, grab your summer read, kick back your feet, and enjoy!

Yes, yes, I know...today is actually the first day of fall. But the weather here in Edmonton has been soo wonderfully lovely that I'm having a hard time thinking summer is actually over!
So here it is, my last summery outfit post of the year.

& this lovely snitch necklace is from a dear friend of mine...isn't it just wonderful?!

Happy 1st day of fall and so long sweet summer!

weekly wrap-up : hello edmonton

This week I had a wonderful time exploring Edmonton, eating good eats, and spending time with dear friends =]

Enjoying an evening by our favourite fishing spot by the river near our apartment...

Hitting up the Labour Day Re-Match of the Stamps vs. Eskimos... Yeah Stamps!

nom nom noms.

Love late evenings playing intense games of Settlers with good friends =]
Kirsten had a crazy number of knights!

Took these photos and had a blast doing it! I had the shock of a lifetime when a couple who contacted me for an engagement shoot showed up in WEDDING clothes and told me they had decided to elope! SO CRAZY! And such an honour!

& lastly, I picked these pretty yellow flowers from the river valley to brighten up our apartment!

And yes, my last year of school has started...but that's really not so noteworthy ;) So I'll end here.
Hope you all had a lovely week as well!

weekly wrap-up : love more

This week has been so packed full of wonderful goodness that I had a hard time trying to figure what to share! First off, I finished up my last week of my summer job (teaching tennis!) and received these little gifts from Dorothy, a girl I worked with all summer. Isn't the card adorable?!

I also finished editing this engagement shoot of my friend Jeff & his fiancee, Saige...

Caleb and I got decked out in our rain gear late one night to go on an adventure & check out a CRAZY thunderstorm...it was absolutely insane!
I made these pretty lace earrings for the diy this week...
I got this baby, which I am absolutely ecstatic about! And already madly in love with =)

We went down to Calgary & helped my parents move....and also visited with my grandma =)

& while in Calgary, I also met up with a dear friend of mine for a delicious eggs benedict brunch! It's lovely catching up with old friends... Janice & I have literally known each other since birth! Our mamas & papas were best friends, so it was just meant to be. Isn't she gorgeous?

And I found this lovely message that just made my day : love more.
Simple & powerful and something I need to remember to do more every day.

outfit post : summer stripes

This week's outfit is inspired by my love for the nautical look that is just so in during summer! I love the look of blue and white stripes and the rope string on this skirt is the perfect detail. Pair your stripes with some poppin' cherry lipstick and a pair of classy shades and get ready to rock out the remainder of this summer!
This looks totally makes me miss my Ontario roots... Summer days filled with visits to the beach, riding waves, playing beach volleyball, and watching the sunset with friends as we prepare bonfires for the evening... so many good memories! Living in Alberta doesn't exactly lend itself to beachy days & nights, but I'll wear this outfit loud and proud, regardless!

And if you actually live close to a beach, ditch those summer wedges and throw on a pair of comfy slip ons to chill out in =) Enjoy this last month of summer!
